Kate Chidzalo

Kate has a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Development Studies and a Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Catholic University of Malawi. She has over 8 years’ experience of clinical research in Malawi.

At the University of Malawi’s College, Kate has held various posts such as Research Assistant, Field work Supervisor and Behavioural and Developmental Assessment Officer.

Her main focus was conducting qualitative and quantitative research, case study management, community mobilization and sensitization, interactive hospital based counselling in nutrition and feeding; water, sanitation and hygiene, standard operation procedure development, data transcription and translation, facilitating in-house trainings for health care workers and project field staff, monitoring and evaluation, all of which enabled her to gain vast experience working with Malawian communities and to gain insight in the health care system.

Before joining the College of Medicine, Kate worked with the Theatre for A Change as a Child Protection Monitoring Officer where she was responsible for project coordination and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, systems designing and implementation, child protection capacity gap identification and building, developing training curriculum and manuals, designing advocacy tools and conducting awareness campaigns and other advocacy forums, Implementation and review of referral systems, designing relevant child protection tools for case management, impact assessment and reporting, identifying and building stakeholders partnerships, annual and monthly budgeting and reporting

Kate joined Compelling Works Malawi in December 2020 as a Research Consultant. She is responsible for conducting interviews with key stakeholders for the Blantyre Prevention Strategy in Blantyre District, filling in data collection tools and producing activity reports, key findings from interviews and analysis.
