Patricia Khomani
Patricia Roshan Munthali Khomani is a Malawian professional with extensive experience in health systems strengthening, digital health, and program management. She is fluent in English, Chichewa, and Tumbuka, with basic knowledge of German. Patricia holds a Master of Arts in Development Management from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany (2008-2010) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences (Sociology and Economics) from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College (1997-2001). Additionally, she has specialized training in Health Informatics from the University of Kansas Medical Centre (AMIA 10X10: Introduction to Health Informatics, 2011). But still aspires to complete her PHD program in Health Informatics,Digital Health and AI.
With over 21 years of progressive experience, Patricia has worked across multiple sectors, with a strong focus on digital health, data science, AI, and human-centered design for decision support. She is currently the Country Liaison for Cooper/Smith managing Malawi stakeholders, supporting with business development and program management, before taking on this role,Patricia was overseeing the implementation of HIV prevention programs, new product institutionalization, health systems strengthening, and capacity development for healthcare workers in data use under the Blantyre Prevention Strategy. Patricia also doubles as a shareholder at Compelling Works LTD, where she provides strategic guidance, technical advisory services, and business development support.
Previously, Patricia held key positions at renowned institutions. As Programme Manager for the DIPLOMATIC Study at Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust (2019-2020), she led stakeholder engagement, sustainable data set solutions, and compliance with ethical research standards. She also served as Regional Manager - South at Baobab Health Trust (2014-2019), where she coordinated digital health initiatives across 84 health facilities and 12 district health offices. Her earlier roles included Senior Projects Coordinator at Baobab Health Trust (2010-2014), Intern at GTZ Eschborn Germany’s Social Protection Department (2009), and various administrative and programmatic roles within the Public Works Programme under the Government of Malawi and European Union.
Patricia possesses a diverse set of skills, including expertise in digital health, medical informatics, data science, AI for decision support, project management, monitoring and evaluation, financial oversight,human resource management and scientific research management. She is highly proficient in various software tools, including Microsoft Office 360, SPSS, G-Suite, Redcap, and project management platforms. Her strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills have enabled her to drive impactful projects at local, national, and global levels.
Beyond her professional work, Patricia is passionate about development in health systems, capacity building, mentorship, and community engagement. She is dedicated to leveraging digital health innovations to improve healthcare delivery and enjoys continuous learning in emerging fields such as AI and data science. She further undertakes community support activities, reads,hikes and takes long walks in her sparetime.
